If you need a written document to be translated into another language, then you will need a translator. If you have a meeting or event where oral translation is needed, then you will need an interpreter. Interpreters deal with spoken language, while translators deal with written text, and both forms involve transforming a source piece of language, be it written or spoken, into a comprehensible and equivalent target piece.

We offer all European languages and most World languages. Our most commonly requested languages include:

Arabic, Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Irish, Italian, Japanese, Latvian, Lithuanian, Mandarin Chinese, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish and many more.

If we don’t have a translator, or linguist for your language available, we will always try to source someone so that all client needs can be met.

If this is a once-off translation job for a protected individual we would recommend paying online by credit card, or paying upon collection. For companies we would recommend an invoice based system for payment by bank transfer or cheque.

We provide all of our clients with a digital copy of their translation. We also post hard copies via standard post upon request or in case of translation of personal documents.

If you require any other shipping method, such as registered post or DHL, we can also arrange that for you. Please tell our team what your needs are, and we will recommend the best way forward and advise of fees.

We only use experienced and professional translators and who are carefully vetted and chosen by us. The majority of our team have at least 3 years’ experience and an educational qualification in their area of work.

If you would like to join our freelance team as a translator, please email us a copy of your CV. (link to jobs page)

DCU Language Services ensures the confidentiality of all documentation submitted for translation.

As part of our policy of best practice in the profession of translation, DCU Language Services abides by the Irish Translators’ and Interpreters’ Association (ITIA) Code of Practice and Professional Ethics.
